All Courses at Beaumont School

Beaumont's evening language classes are for adults. Develop your conversational, reading, writing and listening skills with experienced adult teachers. Most are native speakers. Classes are stimulating, friendly and fun, with the focus on developing conversational skills alongside reading and listening. You will be advised which course books to buy. Look on the individual course pages for more details about each language class.

Classes run for ten weeks per term and are structured to run for three terms during the year, providing 30 classes in total.

Beginners Courses are suitable for people with no knowledge of the language or who have a little knowledge and wish to start learning from the beginning again. We start in September and continue throughout the Spring and Summer Term, so if you wish to join the Beginners Course in either January or May you will need to have some experience of the language already.

Continuers Courses are for those who have been learning for about a year. They are a continuation of the beginners course from last year, but are of course open to anyone with some experience of speaking the language.

Intermediate Courses are for those who have been learning for two years or more or who have done GCSE or O Level in the past and would like to refresh their skills.

" Lyndsey is an inspirational and gifted teacher. She inspires us to experiment and develop our skills and ideas using fabrics and other materials. It is wonderful to use the school facilities and equipment to try new things . I have produced some lovely textile pieces and have learned so much, how to use freehand machine embroidery, to use batik methods, to use wet and needle felting and appliqué . With Lyndsey's encouragement and teaching I have gained confidence and love my two hours on a Wednesday evening. "

"It has been great spending time with people who enjoy being creative and Lynsey is such an encouraging teacher." JH

"It's a fabulous course - am enjoying it immensely." BR

"The textiles course is a oasis in my busy and demanding life. I love the creativity it brings out in me. I don’t manage to finish many pieces of work, but the skills and work I learn are varied and new. I love felt making and batik and I would never had the opportunity to try either anywhere else. Thank you for putting such a great course on." MJ

"With respect to Helene's teaching, I believe she is the best French teacher I have had over all the years I have been studying French at evening classes - by a country mile (or kilometre). She is encouraging and, in particular, she provides a safe environment to attempt speaking French.  The classes are great. " PM
